Size: 4 in h x 11.25 in w x 6 d in

The Russian sculptor Nikolai Lieberich specialized in naturalistic animal sculptures and hunting scenes. He served as a lieutenant in the Chevalier Guards, becoming staff caption in the Leuchtenberg Hussars. Lieberich studied under Peter Clodt of Juergensburg in 1861 in the Petersburg Art Academy, creating a variety of animal statuettes cast in bronze and silver that became very popular. At the 1862 International Exhibition in London, his bronzes were praised by The Times: ‘...in their perfect finish, their spirit and lifelikeness cannot be compared to anything else in this category presented at the exhibition’. His work has been featured in the Russian State Museum in St. Petersburg.
