We have had the pleasure of consigning three rare Sybil Andrews linocut prints, “Fall of the Leaf”, “Logging Team” and “Ploughing Pasture”. Sybil had a fascinating life as an international artist who settled in Campbell River where she worked and taught until her death at 94. Her blue oceanfront cottage in Willow Point has been restored as a heritage site belonging to the Sybil Andrews Heritage Society, with an Artist in Residency program in place. In 2007 the City of Campbell River issued a proclamation that April 19, Sybil’s birthday, would be known as Sybil Andrews Day in recognition of her impact on the community. My father Uno Langmann knew Sybil Andrews well and helped market her work, and recently donated five of her original paintings to the Campbell River Arts Council.

Snuff bottles became fine works of art representing status and wealth, and were made from many fine materials including ivory, horn, porcelain, precious metals, fine woods, glass and a wide variety of semi-precious stones including jade. W.J. Phillips is best known for his watercolours and as a pioneer and master of the Canadian woodblock print. He captured the unique topography, serenity and shifting moods of the Canadian landscape, combining unique expressions of Japanese printmaking and the British Arts and Crafts style into his own techniques. We are pleased to present a collection of six excellent Phillips’ colour woodblock prints including the iconic Jack Pine, two of his rare West Coast works and three Christmas cards.
