Pair of Royal Copenhagen bicentenary commemorative porcelain Jubilee bowls highlighted with gilding, presented by the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain manufactory as one of a series of 2500 numbered copies commemorating the bicentenary of the company on May 1, 1975. The bowl is identical in size and shape to those produced for Danish naval commanders and others after the Battle of Copenhagen on April 2, 1801.
One bowl commemorates the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain bicentary and is decorated with the Copenhagen skyline and the coast of Zealand in 1975, and the Royal Copenhagen coat of arms in a laurel wreath and "1775-1975". Bottom marked "Royal Copenhagen Porcelain/Den Kongelige Porcelainsfabrik 1775-1975", numbered 1148/2500, and stamped with Royal Copenhagen Denmark and Royal Copenhagen three wavy lines factory mark. The decoration is the result of a collaboration between cartoonist Sven Vestergaard and the painter Finn Clausen.
The other bowl commemorates the American bicentenary and is decorated with scenes of English frigates October 1776 and the Battle of Princeton January 1777, separated at each end by the Great Seal of the United States over a laurel wreath with "1776," and a sillouette bust portrait of George Washington. Inscribed inside "General George Washington taking charge of the battle of Princeton. Jan. 1777. English frigates engaged by American batteries on the Hudson River. Oct. 1776", and marked on bottom "The American Revolution 1776-1976", numbered 82/2500, and stamped with Royal Copenhagen Denmark and three blue wavy lines factory mark. The bowl is decorated by Royal Copenhagen artist Sven Vestergaard.
