Tlingit Spruce Root Rattle Top Basket
Very fine, handwoven twined spruce root basket, circa 1880

Size: 6 ⅜ h x 7 ½ w x 7 ½ d in
Twined cylindrical basket with flat bottom and tightly fitting lid. There is a hollow knob handle on the centre of the lid that is filled with small pebbles. The sides of the basket are decorated with slanted triangular repeating decoration.
