Rare late Colonial Edenton North Carolina mahogany tilt top birdcage tea table, American circa 1750-80. Plain round top tilting with two full length battons and rotating on an open ended box-form birdcage with exposed dovetails. Tripod legs dovetailed into the turned pedestal base. The underside of each arched leg has stylized scrolled cut-out decorative carving, with small turned bosses sprig-nailed on the volutes on the legs which sit on raised broad pad feet. The mahogany retains a rich original colour and bears original hardware.
